Looking for info on 1969 idle solenoid bracket
I have a 69 400hp tri power car with AC. I have the correct idle solenoid #111421 and the correct clamp 3940918 but I can't seem to locate the bracket 3940916 that holds the solenoid and clamp that mounts to the front and middle carbs.
Does anybody know where I can get one of these or does anybody have a good photo or GM drawing of this piece?
The only photo that I have is in the Vette Vues fact book 68-72 by M.F. Dobbins. If you have this book you can look on pages 93 and 94.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Pierre

Two out of three is better than what I've got! I've been watching for one of these units for a while, usually at the swap meets and such. This unit was also used on most of the B-bodies and Camaro/Firebirds that used a 4V and A/C, so they do come up occasionally. I did find one solenoid that turned out to be junk, so I may go the route you are considering and make a replica bracket and solenoid. Good luck, and let me know if you come up with extra pieces. I'll gladly buy them from you.

I'd like to know if this bracket was on other GM cars, since I'd like to buy two more of these brackets.
Since you apparently really need one of these brackets, have you called all the various Corvette salvage yards and used parts dealers? I once needed an obscure not common part, and I started calling people selling parts in the NCRS Driveline Magazine. After many phone calls, I eventually found someone who had the part I wanted even though he hadn't advertised it. He sold it to me at a very reasonable price, about 1/2 what people had been getting on ebay. I think he was just happy to know that his part was going back onto a restored Corvette. ......Anyhow, do use the telephone in addiion to the internet. Some of the used parts dealers and salvage yards will initially quote a big number, but do try to shop around.....

I bought mine from Doc Rebuild a couple years ago. You can just barely see it in this photo. I can take a better pic tomorrow if this looks like what you need. It's a 71' SB.

Thanks RPOL68 that is a good start. This bracket is for a tri power car. It would be great if someone out there actually has a engineering drawing so I can fabricate. If anyone has this drawing or bracket please let me know.
Thanks again,
Pierre

Here's a thread on the same bracket. One sold on eBay for $111.

Thanks Duke94, but that's the wrong bracket. I need the one that goes on a tripower 400hp car. It's like the one in the assembly manual pictured above. Thanks again, Pierre

My bad...
I should have been more exact in my post. Only the 4V HOLLEY equipped cars w/ factory A/C had the same bracket and solenoid, making it still a pretty obscure part. Factory A/C on a BB or H.O. Chevy was counter productive in those days for most people. I believe the only Pontiacs with a Holley were the RA IV Trans Ams and maybe the Judge? Not sure how many of those were delivered with A/C...

I recently took pictures for another forum member.
I would be really surprised if this bracket was used on any other application other than the 400 HP TriPower setup.
I'm not saying it wasn't, just that I would be really surprised (and educated). It is a very unique design.
I have two complete 400HP TriPower setups and have been looking for a second bracket for 20 years... haven't found one. I looked through the junk boxes at Carlisle many times... missed the Miss Carlisle contest a few times as a result. That is some real nasty stuff out there in those boxes. No luck.

The tripower 400HP bracket is unique and VERY rare. It's totally different from the 4 barrel bracket.
It's like trying to find a pair of chicken lips.
I've seen them sell for $1,500 to $2,000, just for the bracket.
I've only seen a few, and those were installed on 400 air cars, the only place that they're used.
Nobody to the best of my knowledge reproduces it.
How many 68 and 69 400 air cars are there? Not many. I doubt it will ever be reproduced because of the limited usage. If somebody did reproduce it, it would still be very expensive.

Pierre,
Only two applications, and both had very limited production:
400 hp tripower with air
435 tripower with automatic (only 255 made)
I have one, and thought it was a spare, until I learned about the second application (mine).
Unfortunately for you, as I learned about the bracket, I also heard it called a "$5000 bracket". It is so rare, that it will be tough to find at any price.
You may want to call David Crane (Crane's Corvettes) in California.
Good luck,
Steve
