The side tail on my vette have some specs of rust or corosion on them.. I can take my nail and scrap it off.. Is there something out there that will help me in shining up my pipes?? SOS pads??? special polish???

Question #2

Can some one tell me where does my battery pos cable go to?? Does it go directly to the starter???

all i got right now thanks guys!!!

O YEAH 1 more thing.. what does the L-88 or L-82 mean????

Yes, positive cable goes directly to the starter solenoid.

Don't laugh, but Coca Cola and aluminum foil works pretty well if the rust and corrosion aren't too bad (i.e., surface). And you can drink what you don't use!

My neighbor has a 49 merc with big chrome bumpers and sidepipes. He used the pepsi and tin foil trick an the chrome looks amazing. He even redid the hubcaps that are on it and they look great. From what i understand it is a quicker process then polishing with creams. Its worth a shot

I once saw a couple cool things with Coca Cola. They took a bowl of Coke, and dropped in a steel nail. A big one. within 8 hours it was almost totally eaten away.

The other cool thing, was someone took a paper clip, bent it straight with a single 90 degree bend int he end, and scribed a line all the way around the inside of the can about half way through. Within a few hours the coke ate through where the paper clip had scraped away the inner lines, and the can was split in two in a perfect line.

Cool huh? don't leave anything in it too long or it'll get eaten up.

i bought the turtle wax yesterday and it does shine it off but doesnt really eat away the rust specs..

i assume with the coke and foil deal u crumble the foil in a ball type shape and use its jagged edges to scrape away the rust.. ia m whiling to try anything.. i will keep you posted on my progress!!!

im up for more ideas!!!!

IM not 100% sure but i dont think it matters how the foil is bent or crumpled. Just pure some coke on there an start polishing with the foil. GL

Crumpled foil will hold more of the Coke within it's folds.

I've been riding bikes and hot cars for almost 40 yrs. The best I've found for removing rust on chrome wheels after that mutt down the street pissed on my rims. Rust. Left my bike outside on long road trips. Dirty white walls on the bike and cars. Removing melted plastic from rain gear off side pipes. All of this can clean with Brillo or SOS. Your choice. I would not waste my time with anything else. Clean the chrome before you wash the vehicle. Do Not use on alum. or paint

I was thinking of trying that once...but I was worried the SOS pads would scratch even chrome.

I saw an episode of Mythbuster where they used coke and aluminum foil to clean the chrome. It actually worked well.
