Default hooker sidepipe ?

my hooker sidepipes just came in and i noticed right and left side look different from the head flange to the center of sidepipe flange the drivers side measures 24 inches and the passenger side measures 21 inches maby i'm wrong and i hope so but wouldnt they both need to be the same ? 74 is the year there sitting side by side on the ground right now and 3 inch differance is quiet noticeable

I just tried to get a quick measure of mine (on the car) and they appear to be about the same length side to side. It was not easy to get an acturate measure, but they were no where near 3" different. Mine is a 78'. Might be worth a call to Hooker before you start.

my passenger side tube is shorter than the driver side to account for the passenger side of the engine 2,4,6,8 cylinders sitting closer to the firewall than the 1,3,5,7(driver side) with it all bolted up and on the car you shouldnt notice a difference, also have you bought some low restriction inserts or did you get the hookers, also if you havent ran it with open pipes you oughta try it at least once, sounds awesome but after a while your hearing will start to go. either way good luck.

Hi

Pax side is shorter all over due to only starting at cylinder 2.

Happy new year. Günther

I agree with 1fastC3, it sounds like they have ajusted for the offset of the exhaust port from side to side.

i see now what your saying about the passenger head being closer to the firewall had me going for a little while though, i got the hooker mufflers i asked for the loudest most free flowing muffler they had and they sent a muffler with a 1 1/2 hole in it i dont care much at all for the idea of going from 4 inches to 1 1/2 inch exhaust opening are they obnixious loud with no muffler? also should i use the gaskets they sent or use fel pros?

Two things;
1. The engine in the C3 is offset to the passenger side. Take a look at the brackets that your engine mounts bolt to. The engine is about 2" (I am doing this from memory) closer to the passenger side frame rail.

2. The Hooker mufflers are crap. Get the STS baffles. www.spiralturbobaffles.com

You can always remove the center cap for more flow and noise.

Edit: I use the Mr. Gasket Ultraseal Gaskets. Metal cored with graphite on both sides. Seals well and easy to find at Autozone when I need one in a hurry.

SteveG75 is 100% correct, cause I had to cut a hole in my engine hood this year and it could even be more than 2 inches over toward passenger side of the car. Man oh man I wanna buy those headers so bad for my BB 'Vette.

My hooker Max Flow mufflers have a 2 1/2 " hole through the middle. Fit right in the sidepipe and are 1/2 price of the turbo baffles.
