The shells on my seats have been painted, more than once and the paint is cracking and look horrible. Because it's white paint over red paint it shows heaps.
What are these shells made of? The base section looks like it's fibreglass, but the top section feels like plastic. I searched the forum, but most paint stripping was done by sanding, heat gun and razor blades. Because of the texture on the shells, sanding or the like won't work. Are these safe to use paint stripper on?
I have to fix them because they are the tattiest part of the car. Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Scott
I stripped mine with paint stripper, they are fiberglass but the press molded kind which has a lot of resin. The factory color will come off also and leave bare fiberglass which is really dark because of the almost black resin used
Cool, I pulled the foam and noticed it was dark grey/black with red and white over spray. Just didn't want to slap on some paint striper to find it melts stuff. Respray will be black, unless I get creative. I will finish this car one day...
