I have to say, Pontiac engines are a lot easier to build. There are like 3 aftermarket cams and two aluminum head choices. Okay, maybe I'm exagerating, but the sentiment is still accurate.
I have a set of 195cc CNC ported l98 angle plug AFR's with hydra rev kit and a port matched performer RPM intake (professional products version the cyclon i think). I also have a Extreme energy cam xe268h that made my 350 scream with low end TQ and almost 400 HP. Let me know if you are interested, they are just sitting in my garage. Non of these parts have more than 500 miles and are only about 1 year old.
Thanks
Randy
This would be a hot rod in a 355 ci. I used fully ported 200cc sportman II's many years ago. It was a nice running setup with my TH350. I used up to 230 cc on my street/strip 355 ci. IMO 230 is way over kill.
Heads can be used way into the future, so think about future motors you might dream up. Then 200 - 215 is a reasonable choice. I would not even buy the old style AFRs (bad problems with oil return)
Brodix and Dart are what I am familiar with and like. I would also get heads with bigger valves. Like 2.05/1.6
Roller cams run nicer and have higher vacuum than = H-flat or solid lifters. So you can use more duration like the above Crane.
