Default Wheel Studs

Well my right front wheel fell off today while driving up my driveway. My question is how hard is it to install wheel studs I am going to order some ARP studs. Another thing what size of stud will i need and can i get some that are screw in instead of press in

The original studs were 7/16" - 20 and 1 3/4" long measured from the inside flange or about 2" overall length. The stock stud and size are plenty strong enough for normal driving and will keep you from doing any redrilling of your hubs and wheels. Nothing wrong with the stock pressed fit either and this would install much easier and cheaper than drilling hubs. There is a tool for pressing the studs out or you can just put the nut on the stud and knock them out with a big hammer. The fronts are easy to change but the rears can sometimes be tricky. Got to rotate the spindle until you find a spot where the stud can be slipped in from behind. May have to take apart the parking brake adjuster wheel to do it but you should be able to get it done. To install the new studs, start it in with your hand and then put a bunch of flat washers over the stud and use the lugnut to draw them in all the way making sure they are fully seated. Buy new lugnuts to go along with the studs.

Agree with above, however, if your wheel came off then it's very likely that the holes in the axle hub are worn and you have to oversize anyways....

Metric M12 is available from ARP (listed for Honda) The knurl portion is only slightly larger than the Vette's OEM hole - I think it's like .010" or so. if you clean up your holes you should be able to pull the new M12 studs in easily.

M12 lug nuts are available at AutoZone, they look almost original.

Edit:
just looked at your photos, your lug nuts are hidden anyways....

Are your rims centered on the axle's hub or only by the studs/nuts ??? Without the hub supporting the rim it is more likely that the studs break... just my 2c

that is the 3rd time i have been asked that question. how can I check that. When the 4 studs broke off they broke off about a 1/4 inch inside the hub. Thanks for the input.

You don't need the studs to check that. Hold the rim on the axle (without the studs it's even easier) and see if the center hole of the rim fits snug over the axle's hub - that's the small lip at the axle's center.

Here's an old photo of my front suspension and it shows the machined diameter right between the conical section and the brake rotor. The rim is supposed to fit snug here - if it does not then everytime you hit a pothole you're beating on your wheel studs and they will eventually come loose and break.

My wheels are lug-centric rather than hub-centric, which is why I upgraded to the 1/2" Moroso studs.
