I have a remote mount filter, I had to, my block doesn't come with a filter mount. I used a Barnes remote oil filter mount that is fitted for the HP6 or equivalent sized racing filters using 1 1/2" filter thread, rather than the normal 3/4". I usually use a k&N HP5001, with is a Fram HP6 equivalent. Also, if you're going to plumb it with AN fittings and hose, -12 is the recommended size.
I mounted the remote filter under on teh firewall under the brake booster. Fits perfectly, I can change it without even having to jack the car up, just reach underneath and spin it off.

Most guys use a remote in conjuction with a cooler. If all you need is some clearance you might consider a 90 degree filter adaptor ala an old sprint car or modified, also made by Barnes. ...redvetracr
