75 Corvette was running hot
1.The hole drilled in the thermostat does not make sense to me because when the stat is closed as shown in the photo, no water will pass through it - since its drilled into a portion of the stat that is sealed where the spring is installed. When the stat gets hot the entire bottom diameter of the stat moves down and opens the stat, so what does this hole supposed do? Im running the same stat with no hole drilled and have no problem.
2. IMO the fan power connection should be wired directly to the battery and not to the alternator red wire. Keep the fan power source separated from the car's factory wiring.
3. My alternator throws many more than 10 amps at 1100 rpm, I get almost always full charge rate at 1000 RPM where my BB idles. I am also running a electronic solid state regulator, the original mechanical one was junk, this one works flawless and regulates voltage perfectly all day long....
