If they let me keep the rights to the images I take--it'd be worth it.
I'd just be afraid the whole thing would be a cheesy/disorganized mess--has that look about it really.
Don't quite understand this........Tim, the organiser, does not care about photos and images, etc - he just makes sure everyone has as good a time as possible. Why do you think my friends and I are gonna hand over 10 grand - we have been on past runs and still think its worth it.
How you enjoy yorself is your business and idea, if you are the type of person who does not walk on the cracks in the sidewalk.....or are frightened about a speeding ticket.........best to stay at home.
There is a hell of a lot of organising to these events and I think Tim works his *** of doing the groundwork, and yes 10 grand will buy you a new car / motor / month in the local lap dancing place, etc. but this is for drivers who like to party and can tell their kids / buddies etc about how they got on in something special.
What good is a new 10 grand engine sitting in your garage - better a 2 grand engine thats partaken in a Cannonball .

Thanks for your reply to my post--you make the same argument I would under like circumstance--I may have misjudged the character of the event on first glance.
I am the kind of person who would rather spend money on a great time then have 'things'--memories last a lifetime.
Now, if I can find people to sponser me, however, then I can have it both ways. Hmmm.
(a hour or so has passed since the above post)
I have given this some thought and I'm gonna go for it! I think I can get local sponsers if I run the race with Julie and shoot video/imagery from a single woman's perspective. I already phoned Julie (and after she cursed me for rousting her out of bed so early), she agreed to go as driver and help find sponsers. Now, if I can clear this with the event people--then I think it'll work well. Here's a first off begging teaser:

an event like this is actually on my list of things to do before i die. The 10g figure is actualy kinda cheapish, i originally wanted to go on the Gumball3000 but that event is up to almost 40k now (and you have to pay extra for a co-pilot)...
i cant go this year but maybe next year or sometime soon
AND it looks like you can get sponsors for this one... the gumball had its own sponsor that would sticker the heck out of your car and it didnt even reduce your entry fee!
Man, I would love to enter that race! I watched some of the footage on Speed last year and was hooked. My teammate and I were thinking of building a car to enter and co-drive. The only thing is the speeding tickets would be a little harsh, at least to our insurance being we're 19, haha. I'm gonna do it eventually. Looks like a helluva good time though!
Ok I have an idea we can ask everyone on the forms for 2 dollars to sponcer only need 5000 people and alot of free time.... Maybe better make that 5 dollars.
I like how he says real drivers!!!!!! My girlfriend can drive state to state in her G6. I use to race bikes from New York to DC want to talk about a rush!!!!!!! I would of wrote something more like this " If you have more money then the average person and have a nice car you should enter" You know if someone has 10k to just hand out for fun they are doing pretty good. I would love to do this but I want to know how many people can spoon out 10k. Most of us have kids wifes and a car we cant stop dumping money into (it's an addiction)......
My friend and I have paid our deposits - there is a discount for past entrants.
Although 10 grand is not a small sum in some ways - its a lot cheaper than the Gumball at 80 grand to enter.
How many have this sort of money to burn - well, a lot of these runs are full up well in advance........
I have never smoked or done drugs and generally do not spend big money on most things in life, but now at over 50, with no wife or kids, a Cannonball is within reach on a yearly basis.
Taking out young Playboy type models every now and again also costs a bit - but they are addictive. Same theory as cars, once you have ridden a Ferrari its difficult to go back to a panel van.............

Someone please help me! It says the winner is determined by who gets closest to the predetermined time it takes for the route going 61 mph... Doesnt that take away the whole draw of the event?
Have you tried averaging 61mph, through traffic, around mountain roads, in a foreign land ( sometimes where you do not speak the lingo - OK- does not apply to USA ) with traffic lights and roadworks.
Down the motorway - yes, no problem, could do it in second gear.
But I have partaken and can confirm sitting at over 150mph for about an hour just to get back on track........
Think its a Sunday drive ??? put your money where your brain is..........
