Does anyone know where to buy a set of side pipes that are nice but cheaper? I will take used if possible. I need them for my father's 68 with a 327. Are they also called lake pipes?
I think you mean "leg" pipes - as in they burn the heck out of your legs
Mine had chrome sidepipes when I got it. The seller said they were from JC Whitney. Try there.
There weren't too bad - except he mounted them BELOW the rocker panels. Talk about dragging them on every speedbump and driveway. It was too low. But it made it easy to remove the pipes.
I guess it will take an old timer to answer this one. Lakes pipes were originally named after the exhaust pipes that ran along the outside of the care that would run at the Bonniville salt flats in Utah. the salt flats were lakes millions of years ago and are still called dry lake beds. There is where most of the land speed records were run. There are several other lakes that are used today also.
