Here's the current set-up:
283 Block bored .120
Stock crank balanced and chamferred
Pink rods reconditioned, polished and balanced
Badger pistons- checking on size also balanced
74 cc chevy heads with 2.02/1.60 valves
and an old Weiand dual quad intake
running two carter 600s
used to run 64cc "camelhump" heads.
with the 64cc heads, the motor used to run 10.6s quarters in a 65 nova. but, over time the studs started to pull on the 64 cc heads.
and that led to tunning the camelhump heads.
I'm trying to find the cam card, but it's a 534 lift cam according to my dad's memory.
The car runs cam2 and is only for weekend cruising/playing around.
We're trying to decide on some nice aftermarket aluminum heads, and having a hard time making a decision. Neither of us have any experience with aftermarket heads, and I know you guys would have good suggestions/ experience. the budget is prob up to around $1500. If I find any more info- the cam or pistons, I'll post it.
AFR Eliminator 180s or 195s. Nice things are often said about Brodix, but I think the AFRs flow the most, right now. You can put 7/16" screw-ins in this head, even though AFR only sells them with 3/8". Or you could go with a Jesel shaft system to spread the load.
Afr are the best ,these guys tell you truth.cant go wrong with them,i have them on my other vehicle. The other heads are nice too, edelbrock, brodix, trickflow, dart, all compareable. But i think afr edges them out.
