Does anyone have or know someone who has the Holley Commander 950 Pro flash upgrade file. I have a older version in my 69 that needs re-flashed to enable me to run the latest Pro software and incorporate a wide band O2 sensor. I have access to resources to do the job if I can find someone who has the file and flash procedure. Any Holley engineers out there willing to help this EE?
I've talked to Doug Flynn (Holley's chief engineer) about this before. For some reason holley won't give out the flash-burn utility and insist you send them the ECU. The good news is that the HW is the same for all C950's so even the very early ones can be flashed and get wideband support.
Yes, the chevytalk board is good. Doug is fairly active on it. Holley used to charge $100 for flash upgrades. Don't know if that policy is still in effect.
Z-man, did you have to pay them to get it done? No wrt Chevytalk, I am not familiar with that forum, but if you think that may work?

I bought it from a guy there so he upgraded me gratis, but it's worth a try. At least you could post a question asking if you could either get the file to flash it or send it in... The lastest version also corrects some software errors too.
Edit: Zwede said they won't hand out the file, so you'll probably have to send it in. I suspect that they just don't want to bother with all the questions they might have to answer if they allowed users to try and upgrade their own.

$100 to reprogram a flash memory chip!! ......on a $500+ computer? That's ridiculous.
I am looking into purchasing a WBO2 system (3E1) which would allow me to accurately calibrate FI systems and keep their lower cost HEGO sensors for everyday operation. These guys seem to have a pretty good family of products for the money allowing flexible configuration. Zwede, I think it was you that turned me on to these guys awhile back. What do you all think?
Bullshark: Yes, I have the Techedge unit (the older 2A1). It has worked fine for about 5 years now with no problems. One thing about the widebands (any wideband not just techedge) is that the sensor does not like heat. I had mine in the collector and it overheated. The solution is to make a heatsink/shield out of copper. About 4"x6" with a hole in the middle for the sensor.
Your also getting the Pro software with that upgrade, which you need to run the WBo2.
Allan, yes I am sure they are charging for NRE (non recurring engineering) Problem is their competition is passing them by. They shouldn't be charging for old stuff, but should be doing everything they can to keep their customer base loyal. By the way, you can download the Pro software off the Holley site free. It's useless without the flash upgrade.
Markus, thanks for the tip I plan to proceed with the Techedge unit purchase. I will need it for the Accel Gen VII project on RamJet.
I agree. The C950 was cutting edge when first introduced. Now it's old and Holley is not investing in improvements. I'm trying to get Holley to release the firmware as open source. I'm sure the cummunity could make tons of improvements/new features. No interest from Holley though. Too bad.

That's news to me, the way it use to work is you actually bought the PRO software for $100 and the ECU flash was included in the package; Summit is still selling it that way. I couldn't find where the software was available to download.

Allan, check out the Commander software download entry at this site. File name indicates it is the Pro version
