I thinking sand for the frame and aluminum oxide for the suspension parts.
Seems the blasting sand is harder to find than any other type of media.

sand = silicosis and the AlOx embeds in the metal giving a little more corrosion resistance right after b;lasting.

When i started mine I bought Sandblasting sand at Home Depot, then nobody carried it anymore so I switched to playground sand and screened it. Worked great, just slow.

I would use whatever you can find. Here where I am aluminum oxide sells for 50.00 a 55lb bag. Thats expensive, white lightning is about 10bucks a bag.
There are many types of abrasives to use. I would stay away from the Silica based products and go with something a bit more "safer".
Black magic, black lightning, black beauty, crushed glass, white lightning, green lightning, any of these will work just fine.

I've used both 70 grit sand and 35 grit black Beauty. I found that the finer material was much better and I used a lot less of it. I would try to find 60-70 grit black beauty if you are concerned with sand.

I used glass bead on mine. It worked great. Some processes use sand and then glass bead to polish it up a lot better. I just used glass in my garage so I could sweep it back up and reuse it. Worked great.

At the local hardware store. They keep 2-3 palets of it. That $$$ all the time around here.
