Change the crank to a steel ' or can you use the stock one to run NOS
How big a shot of NOS you gonna run? Most stock motors will handle mild NOS use, but if you get crazy you'll want to rebuild.
That being said, I would suggest a rebuild of your bottom end, and for sure, check compression. If you have bad compression or it's uneven...you will hinder your results.
we are going for about 300 hp with just the re build but kid is he!! bent on the nos so i was tring to keep from blowing it out of the car first time out ya know what i mean!!!!

Do you really even want NOS? It sounds like the kid's talking you into it because he wants to install it. What's the application for this car? Is it gonna see any track time? Any quarter mile racing? I'm just thinking he's adding it because he think it's cool...not because you want it.
no its going to see some track time but be on the street more i would hope
My point is this. NOS is good and all, but there are a lot of ways to make strong power for these cars. Don't let him talk you into something without first understanding why and what it'll do.
Look into all your options. Build a strong normally aspirated motor. Maybe look into a turbo or a charger. I think of NOS as a dangerous addition to street cars...like adding fuel to the cabin and engine bay in the event of a fire so no evidence of the accident exists after a wreck.
Small NOS shot should be OK with a cast crank. The steel crank is a "nice to have" IMO.
The only "must not have" would be hypereutectic pistons. They will not last with NOS. Even if you run the wider ring gaps I still would not trust them not to break. I would go so far as to say not to use NOS at all without forged pistons. Cast pistons might survive a small shot but forged pistons will withstand a lot more abuse.

Dude...I was just in Little Rock. Had a great time, ate at Jason's Deli for the first time. I rained all frig'n weekend, but it was better than the ice storm I got to come home to here in Columbia.
Nitrous is not to be feared but respected. I ran a 150 shot on stock internals for a full season of over 100 passes with no issues but I was very careful with F/A mixture. There are a lot of books on the subject so don't listen to rumors. Do your homework or leave it alone.
