Default Rotor Rivet

How important are the rivets. I just found out that my left rear does not have any rivets in it nor does the right rear. My question is do I need to reinstall rivets or some kind of fastner to hold the rotor or can i just bolt everything back together and drive.

These are most likely replacement rotors. Do they have the rivet holes? If so, you can put in bolts instead of rivets...look for a post by GTR1999 on front bearing set-up to get a good picture of the rotor with the bolts.

The replacement rotors do not need rivets. They can be held in place by the wheel. Make sure to torque the wheel properly and check/shim the rotors for runout tolerances.

Check the nice rotor set-up he uses. Make sure that you dial them in first.

My gen Chevrolet service manual clearly states that the rivets do not need to be replaced when replacing a brake rotor.

That's right. No need to replace the rivets....but it is very important to dial the new calipers in. There are many post on this subject.
