For quick burst and having alot of motor, I found the limits of the stock mechanical tach. I had mine rebuilt as well and it just doesn't work very well for me. So, I mounted a Stewart Warner shift light with a digital tach on my steering column. I think it looks pretty good and definitely works better than the factory tach. With both of them working you can see the limits of the factory tach.

...I would have never caught that ...I think they meant that they built it "tougher"...more able to withstand any jolting when you hit bumps or anything that would make the car shake hard...in the "old" days when external tachs were used and not built into the dash...like for "hot rods" the mechanisms were sorta delicate and went out of adjustment easily so they are saying that this tack is built more "rugged" than the previous tachs to absorbe more shock without breaking or having to readjust(some had adjustment screws in the back and it was a pain in the azz to take off the cover and adjust it). You would have had to been back in the 1960s-70s to understand if you were a Hot Rod enthusiast
