seat frames
Hello everyone. I'm in the process of restoring my seats on a '71 Corvette that have never been taken apart. The lower seat frame has some rust spots on it & the paint appears to be a mat black. My question is what is the proper prep & paint for this job. Obviously I have to take the rust off. Should I use a primer & then paint? What will be the durability of paint out of a can?

Painted mine with self etching (green) primer then satin black. Yes remove rust with a wire brush. You'll have no problem with durability if you prep and prime the surface. You could also use POR-15 which REALLY works well on bare steel parts.
