Default Driver's side floor vent

Has anyone ever added a floor vent to the driver's side of a '71 convertible with A/C??? If anyone has done this and doesn't want to admit it here, please e-mail me privately. The floorboard heat so often discussed here and on other forums would be a bit more bearable if outside air could somehow be channeled from perhaps the wiper trough down along the left side of the firewall?? Its frustrating to have the top down and enjoy beautiful temps outside and have your feet get reeealy warm!! I've insulated the floors, transmission tunnel, firewall, installed hose cutouts for the heater core, checked doors, seals, etc., etc., etc., all the things one should do, I think!!! I remember a '56 Chev. and a '53 Merc. that although having no A/C had floor vents that allowed moving air to somewhat cool your feet if the ambient temp. was reasonable. I think I'd trade the A/C for some good high volume outside floor air. What do yall think??? Is it possible to "tastefully" do this????

Modified 77 many years ago by removing the duct above dr. feet which ducts air to the side vent. Even if your shoe size is "perfect" allows more room. Holes could be added to duct instead.

Having the same floor heat problem with my 72 convert. Put it up on a hoist and found that a piece of the fibreglass cover had broken off, thus letting all of the heat into the driver foot area. I also replaced the clutch rubber cover but it only helped a small bit. Will have to drop the tranny to fix the broken cover piece. A friend of mine has the same problem with his 69.
