Default piston pin length
What would be the disadvantage if any of using pistons with
shorter then standard length piston pins ??

Less support for the piston. What would be the advantage? If you want lighter pins, they make them thin wall.

The lighter pistons have a thinner wall shorter piston pin. lighter
piston and pin weight would make it easy on the rods.
