On the '68 there is a wiper safety switch (micro-switch) on the firewall next to the slot for the accuator rod for the wiper door cover. Its located under a small cover and when the rod moves to open the door (assuming it works) a pin hits the switch and allows the wipers to operate.
The wiper door is probably the worst idea chevy had for the '68 - on my '68 the accuator broke many moons ago and I just left the door open.
HI Lori:

'68 - many one year part and designs on that year model. I suspect that they would. It keeps power from the wiper motor so it won't start before the door opens fully. Who wants your wipers to start sweeping before the door is completly open? Other posters have given the location so your on your way. Good luck.
Why do people always say the wiper door and fiber optics are the worst things Chevy did to Corvette? I don't get it? Is it because they can't make them work when they fail. JMHO I personally like both systems and give our cars unique features you didn't see that much of then and never see now. Both my "worst systems Chevy ever made" didn't work too well when I bought my car but now they are working perfectly like they just left the factory. Every time I turn on the wipers with someone riding in my car I get the Ohoo, Ahaa that is really cool from them. Don't diss what you can't fix.......
