Default LT1 block info please

I bought a 70 L46 4 speed car and It came with what the owner says is a brand new LT1 shortblock for it , I know it has a steel crank, pink rods and the 11:1 factory pistons and cam , 4 bolt main Here are the numbers I found 3970010 CEA129749 and L290 . I think L290 is Dec29 70 thats all I can find on the block its all fresh The heads that came for it look ported the number is 340292 casting
Any ideas what this shortblock and heads are worth ? seperatlly please and can some decode the block ? I got laid off from work and need to free up some money
Please Help
Thank You

Believe you decoded the date correctly. The "CE" would designate a replacement block. No clue about that head number. Not a 70 number for L-46 or LT1.

The guts for that block, as well as the block, would be correct for 70 L-46 or LT1.

Another member wrote me (crate engine or counter exchange, Dec 29 1970 ). It has all the correct LT1 internals, steel crank pink rods, factory 11:1 pistons and LT1 cam. It looks new like its never been run, block has no paint etcc how much should I ask for it?

Or chevy engine as some have augued. What ever you want to call it the date would indicate 1970. Interesting it has a LT1 cam.

Does it have an oil pan on it? Kind of a long shot but the early 70 LT1 had a 6 qt pan, which didn't allow for power steering. Something that got corrected later in 70. Being a Dec block, I doubt it would have a 6qt pan, or any pan for that matter. Just thought I'd ask.

The LT1 motors had a forged crank. pink rods, 11:1 compression are correct LT1 to the best of my knowledge.

Your heads are #292 "Turbo" castings. They have angle spark plugs and were some of the best heads offered in the 1970's. 292 heads are prone to cracking if not treated well (any kind of detonation.) CE is a service replacement motor or "over the counter" engine block from Chevrolet Engine division hence the CE code (other numbers are production serial number and no realtion to type of engine.) Using the good Turbo heads and a 370HP LT-1 shortblock, 400-425HP should be no problem but, getting it to run on pump gas will be a problem even with a bigger cam installed. Turbo heads are in demand by some vintage racing people and you might try to sell them or trade for more modern cylinder heads. If you can live with putting race fuel into your Vette a LT-1/292 head comb is a VERY STRONG engine combination.
