I have just recarpeted my 1970 corvette. There are 9 rubber grommets 3 of which go on the firewall on each side of the front and 3 along the rear. The question I have is how do you insert these grommets ? Ihave tried every tool in my garage only managing to tear these things. Please Help.

Check either www.zipcorvette.com or www.madvet.com I'm pretty sure they carry a grommet installation tool, or something similar to that name. Anyways, it's made for installing them.

No need to buy a tool for those. Dab a bit of grease on the tip, and use any blunt tool you have to get it started. Go into the engine compartment and you should be able to reach in with needle nose pliers and pull them out the rest of the way.
