1973 Corvette Service Shop Repair Owners & Parts Manual
Hi- I am a new C3 73 convertible owner and have a question. There is a vendor on ebay selling 1973 Corvette Service Shop Repair Owners & Parts Manual which I believe comes on disc and book. Has anyone purchased this and what is their opinion. Should I spend $32.00 on it. I want something that is as detailed as possible and have come across GM's assembly manual and shop service manuals etc but this seems to cover it all but does it? Here is a link and any feedback would be appreciated. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-Corvett...item19c868e3e1
I had done work in the past with my grandfather on his 74 buick century and he had a book that was from GM that was the size of a very thick phone book. Any thoughts on the one I mentioned?
...Does either of these manuals have a vacuum system diagram for the heater, A/C system?...
AIMs have them if you spend the time looking over the various charts and operation drawings. Lists the color codes; what each does; how they route; etc.
Wasn't going to post here, but this subject has bothered me ever since I joined this forum. I've posted time & time again for new Vette owners to BUY THE AIM, IT IS YOUR BIBLEonly to fall on deaf ears. So many "assembly" or "how do I" questions can be answered right in your own garage, and the illustrations will show you better than any text answer you'll get here. So many things can be done yourself with these books, even those that are mechanically challanged, if they'd only buy the book!!!!!
Good post...best advise.

Don't forget torque specs questions!
One other thing, I don't know if this has been mentioned but I recommend you buy the manuals loose-leaf on 3-hole paper so you can put them in a binder so they will lie flat and stay open while you are using them. You could also buy the CD and take it to a copy place and have it printed double-sided on 3 hole paper. I know it's expensive but trust me, it is worth it.
Holy cow I just noticed this thread was picked up from 2007 ! !

I suppose any thread will have it's naysayer... I guess that's me on this one.
I have both service manuals, and quite frankly they rarely help me. The pics lack important detail and clarity with having been reproduced so many times. Important details in procedure always seem to be missing/assumed knowledge. And I have to make sure I'm not looking at a chevelle or nova what-not.
What really has helped me is digging through the posts on this forum. This is not a plug for CF.com, its just how it works out for me. There is no substitute for recent experience and COLOR PHOTOs.
If I knew before buying the books what I know now, I would have spent the $ on something more worthwhile, like dividers for my sock drawer

I agree that because of the reproduction times, my 1970 chassis book has very poor quality pics. The AIM on the other hand is still good.
Can anyone confirm the Helm GM shop manual diagram quality? Is it extra dark due to the reproductions or still good, clear quality? I am thinking of ordering the shop manual on a CD but if the quality sucks then there is no point. Also, is the CD version be searchable?
Will thee be any benefit in getting the shop manual if I already have the Chassis book and the AIM?
