Default nos plate installed, hood clearance?

hello i just finished my nos install and its pretty tight under there. my question is, the hood will close all the way with the shorter air filter i put on however how much room do i need to be safe? i was worried about when motor torques etc.i think i have about a 1/4 inch. i guess i should have put a direct port kit right?

I installed a NOS system and have about the same clearence and its been ok.Did you use a drop base air cleanner assemblie?Get some clay or playdough and put on your air cleanner then close the hood and you will then know how much room you reallly have.

yep i used drop base. i started a post a while back about where to buy a cowl hood, but found everything to be about 450-500 plus 150shipping. so i guess a 1/4 inch is enough for me. thanks
