Default auger muffler inserts

i'm going to swap these 3'' dia inserts along my new undercarriage exhaust sistem as silencing hardware instead of my 40 flowmaters mufflers, maynly to save weight...did any of you tried these? how do they flow compared to a good quality muffler (like the 40 flowmaster)? how do they sound?

thanks/Giu

yes...

i've already them here, they look well built and the sistem should flow well, i dont know if enough for 570hp though...i have two posibilities:

1) at the end of the undercarriage exhaust, in the place of the 40 deltaflow...

2) build a 'side exhaust' departing from the X pipe, one bend from round to flat tube going each side and exiting just behind the rear wheel...

I have two of those weled end to end in each pipe on my 438 big block, well I used the 3.5" versions. I also added a cone shaped tip to the end closest to the engine. They did a good job of cutting down on the ear splitting noise of the straight pipes but they are still loud enough to make sure everyone knows your coming. If anything they would flow better than the old flowmasters. Flowmasters sound awsome on a rat motor or even high horse mouse but have been know to have some of the lowest flow ratings of all the mufflers.

Check out JCL Baffels, basically teh same thing only longer, lots longer, i think he has lots of good info on this type of muffler insert on his webpage. http://www.spiralturbobaffles.com/customers.html

well, these auger inserts are different then the spiralturbo baffles, the mid empty 'tube' is of a larger diameter , but the auger is much shorter...my undercarriage exhaust is all 2 3/4'', starts with a jet coated hooker header and has a 3'' X pipe right after the crossmember...maybe i'll try these and see what happens, otherwise i'd leave it open?

these are the mufflers the inserts will replace...

and this is how it would look with the inserts fixed at the end of the exhaust with no traditional mufflers...

I run them in my side pipes, the 3.5" versions.

At first I had 3 per side with the center tube capped. They sounded pretty good at idle but at WOT they had a really weird screaming banshee sound

I cut 1/2 of the last one of and left the center tube open. Now THAT sounds good! and at WOT sounds fantastic...

They flow very well too. I think they would flow better than the Spirals since they have a smaller center tube.

I'm running 11.90 at 115 with them

I've got three in each side with the center capped. They do have an odd sound at WOT, but when I had the center open they were a little loud I may uncap the center and try them again. They don't come in 4" so I had to mod them to make them work.

Might want to just drill a hole in the end cap. Bigger = louder = less wierd sound...
