Got another number question!
The only way to really learn, is to ask questions. I'm sure glad to have found this forum for all the words of wisdom. Anyway, I got the casting number off my '79 Vette engine today. To my knowledge it is the original L48 but here is the casting # that I wrote down today # 14016379. This is the casting number that was on the intake # 14007376. Thanks again for the help all!

The block casting # is correct for a late model production 79. Nothing about whether it's for an L-48 or not. Black Book just says all late production.
