Please look at this bracket where the power steering ram attaches to the frame. It looks as if Bubba has been here.
As I need to have some welding done anyway, what does the correct bracket look like and where should it be located? I remember when my son first brought this car the power steering ram seemed awfully close to the header.
Thanks for your help.

Well of course that is not the correct bracket. It appears that the original may have cracked as it is a cast piece bolted to the frame rail with four nuts. Looks like bubbas sister made a bracket and bubba himself put his welding skills to the test.
All hail the great Bubba!. I like how after hand cutting the bracket pieces he even took the time to find different length bolts to hold things together.
That's one of the worst bubba jobs I've seen. Here is what it is suppose to look like (71'). Note it's relationship to the head of the carrige bolt that holds the gear box on the frame. That will give you an idea of where it's suppose to be.
Duke94 - Thats a very clean ride you have! Does it ever get out?
Thanks for the photos. The power steering ram was always leaking in this thing, I think that part of it may of been that it was only a 1/2" or so from the headers.

What type of headers do you have?

Doesn't get out very often. I have a 78' with a 5 speed and side pipes that is much more comfortable to drive. The 71' that the pictures are from has the stock exhaust manifolds. My 78' with the Hooker headers and side pipes has no clearance problem with this bracket either. Bubba!
