After sending back the Truflex bumber that didn't come close to aligning up , I received the OEM GM bumper yesterday. I had a chance today to dry fit the urethane bumper and it fits alot better then the Truflex bumper, very flexible, but becomes more rigid with the support brackets installed. I already blasted and painted the support brackets and installed them on the new bumper without problems. The bumper fits pretty good and with alittle heat applied as my body shop friend suggested when the weather gets warmer I think the fit will be ok. This bumper for all of you 73 owners is definitely alot easier to install, it's more money but with alot less headaches....
Thanks for the update. Do you have any pics yet. I am still waiting for warmer weather before I try to play with mine. I did buy the flex fiberglass one from Wilcox because I am toying with the idea of filling in the seam. Not sure if I will do it or not. Depends on how much work I have to do to get it to fit right.
I ordered a flexible fiberglass one from ACI last week. I will pick it up on Wednesday. Hopefully it will fit without too much work. I still have some cleanup work to do on the car to get it ready, but that shouldn't take too long.
Here is how it looks now.
I just paint the new GM bumper on a jig and install. The fit is as good as original. If you want a show bumper use fiberglass and fit to the car on both sides of the seam and remove to paint. This method is best when doing a repaint. The tru flex is in between not original and still has some waves.
