my Water outlet is leaking, making bubbles when hot and Spilling coolant all ofver my engine.
I went to Oreilly's to get th gasket and chage it but all they had was a rubber ring. Is this what I need? or is it a complete gasket. I have one of these chrome fancy water outlet not stock. The guy couldn't find the hasket so he opened a new W/O part and gave me the rubber ring that came with it.
Anything I need to know before doing it? I'm waiting for the car to cool down right now but is there anything specifique to do? not screw it too tight? anything I should know before getting started?
thanks
those fancy chrome waternecks are rarely strait on the bottom get a piece of rough sand paper and level surface rub it across the sand paper. or a flat
file if its a little warped.

The sand paper is indeed the way to go, but for the best results, tape the sheet of sand paper down on a table top or perfectly flat surface. Then, with the water neck in your hand, run it around in figure eight motions for five to ten minutes. It'll be good and flat when you're done with that.
if that fails i assume the round thing is an o-ring, once the o-ring is in place in its groove run a pencil lead size bead of rtv sealant on the inside of the o-ring all the way around. then install it straight down using your bolts to pin it so you know its lined up with the bolt holes the first time.If you misalign it and have to reset it, clean it and start over. You may want to use a little more rtv depending on your o-ring thickness but don't put so much it will squish out and get into your water system. I think what the gentlemen mentioned above will be sufficient.
