Starter Information
I recently got a remanufactured AC Delco starter from Ecklers, my net cost was $104.99 (No core credit offered by Ecklers) plus shipping.
Well, after a couple of weeks it failed.
At first it worked fine, but within a week i started noticing once in a while it would crank real slow. Then Friday I started the car and heard a whirring noise coming from under the hood. At first I couldn't figure out what was causing it and when I tried to shut the car off- I couldn't!!! The ignition was inoperable.
The starter was making the noise, I guess it was still running, so I just drove to where I was going. Half way there the whirring stopped. I later found the starter to be fried.
Saturday AM, I went to Autozone who had a Duralast Reman starter for $39.99, they even trucked it in from another store the same day for me. I was a little nervous but needed to get my 69 working. When I opened the Duralast Box therein was an AC Delco reman Starter, identical to Ecklers and my original!!!
Is Ecklers ripping people off? Don't try to tell me that they use better parts in their rebuild because the one I got was crap. The Duralast from Autozone also comes with a lifetime warranty!!
Score one for Autozone.

PS. I got a reman master cylender for $15. It works perfectly, I saw them in ecklers and MA for $80....I was looking for a rebuild kit, but was informed by the autozone worker that a reman master cylender would be cheaper then a rebuild kit....he was right...not to mention it was quite a bit easier to install.
