Default 69 Ac

I have a 69 427 w/ac. I need to get a new heater core box and was wondering if they were all the same for 68-77? Also, what about the AC evap box? Were the parts the same for a big/small block except for the compressor brackets?

While I don't know what heater boxes will fit what, I doubt if you will be able to find new ones, but I would check all vendors to be sure. I believe you'll end up trying to track down used items. Good Luck!

The Last Detail and Corvette Central both have repro heater cores, and repro or nos AC evaporator's. I'm sure that Zip, the Dr., MAD And Ecklers all have them too.

Thanks, but what I'm asking is if the plastic box that contains the heatercore is different cosmetically or functionaly in say 74 vs. a 69 427 w/ac? I am looking to buy a used one for my 69. Also, same question for the ac box on the engine side.

Functionally and cosmetically they should be relatively close to the same. But since the inner pieces were changed between 72 and 73 model years, the boxes may have changed as well. Best way to tell is to compare part numbers in the AIM's for each year. I believe that 74 AC is still POA valve (same as 69) as opposed to later style Orifice Tube.

Stick with 68-72. '73 uses a different system (at least ouside the case) with different valves and hoses. Cases might be the same (I remember it that way), but it's a gamble. I assume yours is missing? Tough to re-constitute this stuff, but folks are constantly posting about removing those pieces, so go after those parts. I was lucky that the previous owner of mine was lazy and only tossed the compressor, hoses, brackets and condenser. Even then it was a pain, but now I have working A/C, which is pretty cool in an old tub like this!
