Paint code / color question
I found a dark navy blue color called "Black Sapphire" while at the Carlisle show. It was on an awesome looking modified 67. The guy gave me a card with a picture of the car and told me the paint code was a number 22. He said it was a late 70's - early 80's color, which I wrote on the card.
A friend of mine works at a body shop and he gave me a book on GM paint codes and colors. Could not find a code 22 that matched.
If anyone is familiar with the name and can help out, please post. Otherwise, if anyone has any codes or names of really dark blue, send them. I'm looking for somthing that looks black at night under streetlights until you get close.
Thanks in advance!

Wow, new record for bringing a thread back from the dead!
Your paint code of 28 is called Dark Blue Metallic. If your car was repainted with Black Sapphire, then the code 28 just indicates the color it was born with. GM did have a color called Black Sapphire with code 28, but it was used in the late 80's and early 90's - and is a different color (most likely). The code 28 on those cars maps to WA8743 paint code.

There was no such color on any C3. The closest color to what you described is "Nightwatch Blue", which was on the 1965 Pontiac GTO's and full sized cars. The appropriate interior color with Nightwatch Blue was "Blue Charcoal" which is something like 50/50 mix of Navy Blue and Black. Other GM cars may have utilized Paint Code 22; but you should be careful with using GM color codes, as they frequently re-used the number code for different colors in different model years!

Not just paint codes. I feel reusing LT1 and LS6 RPO codes is blasphemy...
