Diffrential clutch plate replace
I was wondering if all else looks fine upon disassembly (60k miles on car), whether the posi clutch plates can be replaced without dissambly of the gears. I did this on my Mustang T-lok diff without much difficulty.
So can the clutches be removed/reinstalled without removing the gears/carrier?
While I'm asking, what do you folks think about replacement axles? Car has wimpy L-48, but I plan on about 500 HP in the future. New stock axles, rebuilt hardened tip axles, ubolt, big block cap style, or Vansteel 17 spline "performance" axles?

Depending on the axle ratio, you may have to remove the ring gear to remove the internals of the carrier.
If you are going this far into the diff. Why not takeall apart and throughly inspect each part. You might save yourself a lot of trouble later when you get the increased HP.

Look this over and let me know if you need any help. Use only solid steels.

ratio is 336
I am too poor at the moment to rebuild, if not necessary. I will do it later and will probably change to a better posi unit and maybe a different ratio.

Thanks for the link. I saw it when you first posted it also. Good info there. It convinced me that I don't want to try to rebuild the diff myself!
