How can I tell if my Vette has a shift kit? It's an '80 L82 that seems pretty much stock. It's a bit faster than my dad's bone stock 72 and the idle on mine sounds like it has a cam. The 1-2 shift is super hard when it's warmed up and I'm leaning on the go pedal. Taking off gracefully still gets a shift harder than normal but, more than tolerable. At WOT though, it's really, really hard. I'm concerned there may be another problem if it's not a shift kit... is there an easy way to tell? I drove it the other day in 30* weather and noticed it's not shifting hard in cold weather until it warms up.
Any ideas if this could be a problem or how to confirm a shift kit or not?
Lastly, how can I make the 1-2 shift a little easier? Does the kick down cable or modulator have anything to do with shift firmness or, only shift points?

I have a shift kit and it sounds like you do too. I can get a good second gear chirp if I'm on it. If your not on the gas, it should feel just a little firmer on the 1-2 shift. I don't think you have a problem.
