Found this on the old dash harness. It has been spliced in. Any ideas what it might be? Perhas some sort of noise interference thing? Re-use or ditch? Thanks...Don
Pix kinda small, but from what I see, iit's a Interfearance capacitor, filter, for the old AM radio...aided in spark noise or alternator noise supression....yes, it's factory added in probably in St. Louis as a last minit fix....

Thanks for the help. If you click on the thumb it will give you a large pic.
I have that same thing on my 75. I think it's attached to the brake light switch. I couldn't come up with a good reason to get rid of it. It's nice to know that it may not have been a previous owner fix
i agree it's a capacitor, but i doubt that the factory in st louis used splices like that, lol!! in my opinion it was definitely added after the fact (chances are by a previous owner after they removed some of the ignition shielding, lol). you probably will find one on the turn signal flasher (in my car under the glove box in the passenger compartment) to serve the same purpose.

Okay, but should I re-splice this old decrepid looking thing into my nice NEW wiing harness? I leaning towards leaving it off.

Actually this has come up on the Forum before. It is a factory install with the Bubba looking crimp connectors. Clearly a last minute noise fix for radio pop. I pitched mine with the new harness.
Try the radio with it in and without...unless you're an avid AM radio fan, I doubt you'll notice a difference without it in line....testing!!! 1,2,3, testing!!!

"P I N G", coming in Lima Charlie. Thanks all. This is what I shall do.
