Mobil 1 seems to be allright until you dont ask the 'extras', but under severe conditions it seems to fall apart like a standard mineral oil...
Am I high? Did I read this? Do I really KEEP reading stuff like this here?

By you?

What are you asking? Are you asking whether or not a hot oil should feel, by your fingertips, like hot oil? Are you kidding?

Am I really seeing that you are prodding over and over agaiin---can I run Klotz 2 stroke oil in my Vette because it smells better, and in fact, doesn't seem as thin at the end of revving my car under load for 20 or 30 minutes?

Am I missing something here? Please, for God's sake, let me know what you're talking about?????

I'm frankly humored, and so forth am grateful. But I must be mistaken?

Yes. That's it. Eureka.

I live a sad and hopeless life.

To be sure, I'm being serious. I want to sort this out. What are you asking? I'd like to understand this? Sometimes there are language barriers.

The last thing I want to do is attack someone here. I'm actually one of those selfish bastages that hangs around, soaking up knowledge and asks questions in deference to the amount of information I learn (mostly because the cumulative knowledge here far outweighs mine)---at any rate, I wish you and no one else hard feelings. Perhaps I HAVE had a bad day---I've got to go back to work for an emergency!!! Grrrrrr!!!!

Panic, if you are going to be running her hard(and you will) you need, oil pressure and temp, and an oil cooler. All are simple and cheap

Again...this thread seems to be

Didn't DB bring up this EXACT same topic in mutiple threads and polls???
I suggest you go back a few days and look at those replies. The gist of it is if it is a street engine, no matter HOW HARD you run it, you should be fine with Mobil 1 and NO oil coolers. Syn oil breaks down ABOVE ENGINE TEMPS of 300 degrees. If your engine is running that hot, you got bigger worries that what type of oil to use. You would have a radiator/cooling system problem, NOT an oil cooling problem.

spend the 200 bucks. It'll be worth it. Not a whole lot of downside.

Panic, do you have an oil temp gauge? If not that would be a good investment too. How hot did the oil get?
After watching all his videos, he should run one. He drives them a little harder than most guys.

"today i've driven a 30 miles highway at high speed with engine revving continuosly around 5.500/6.200 rpms"

WHAT?????!!!!!?????

I missed that completely!!! So what transmission and rear end gearing are you using??? When you say "highway", what kind of road EXACTLY are you talking about??? Is it a highway that wraps around Mt. Vesuvius and is all curves, or a road like the Autobahn?? Are you rolling around in 2nd gear all the time to achive those RPMS or are you in top gear? We need a few more details on what EXACTLY you are driving on and how you car is equipped.

He has a 570 HP SB 4speed car with a 4.11 rear end. This is a race car and driven like one, 5500 to 6200 RPM for 30 miles. Oil cooler, oil temp guage and a good multigrade. 15-40 Rotella or 15-50 Mobil 1, 15-40 Amsoil if you prefer synthetic. I would go with the little thicker oil because of the harsh driving conditions

highway, i'll try to be as EXACT as i can:

two lines road, slightly curved, with a white stripe in the middle and one yellow at each side, when you enter you pay a ticket and if you need a coke you have a service at every 20 miles. it does not go around vesuvius but i wish it did, i'm living in spain so the best can happen is that a highway goes around bull corrals.

engine: 406ci 570hp at 6.300rpm, tq figure 530...

trans: rebuilt t-10

rear axle: van steel built with tom's parts, 4.11

weather conditions: nice and fair

tarmac conditions: warm and clean.

hope this help

It helps, but to be honest, I WOULDN'T be driving a car like that on any public road. Seems like a horrendous waste of money and effort to drive around bull corrals . I had a 4.10 rear end in a 1970 Dodge Super Bee with a 383 and 4-speed and no way I was turning those RPMs. More like 3500-4200 RPM at highway speeds (65-70MPH). What are "highway speeds" in Spain ???????

Panic. Maybe instead of an oil cooler, we should chip in and get you a governor.

i couldnt agree more, but that's all i have to around while living here...

usually that's the rpms level i normally do...but y'day the place was desert and the tarmac was inviting to try the new hoosiers...
usually i try to avoid highways altogether, with 4.11 rear gears you'll have tiny fiats flying you around all the time anyway...

Let's try and straighten this out. Maybe we have a translation problem. You said on your first post...
"...30 miles highway at high speed with engine revving continuosly around 5.500/6.200 rpms. So at that RPM, what SPEED were you driving????
