Working on minor project - 69 coupe. I am repalcing windshield and wanted to clean up the frame.
It looks like any water around the windshield should flow down the outside lower corners and then not shure of the path. There is almost a gutter like design with lots of nooks. Sould I seal all of these and force the water into the door jam or is it supposed to travel elsewhere?
I also see what looks like drain holes in the lower door pillar arrea below the bottom hinge between the fender and mount. Is this area supposed to be sealed or does water escape that way as well?
I thank all for there responses and I will try to post pictures later.
I don't know the 69, but on late C3's there is a channel that guides water from the sides of the window away from the door jam and into the wiper tray, from there it goes down both sides thru the plenum area and out the bottom, there is a slot doen there to let it out. These get blocked by leaves, dirt and dead mice in the intervening 30 yrs of life between the factory and you. Wirebrush/sand all the metal, etch and prime and POR15 all of it you can get to. As long as yout at it, seal the upper area just below the window under the rear edge of the fenders, they are notorious for trapping water there and rusting thru. See some of my posts on this.
In this pic the Red line indicates the drain channel, seal it at the bottom edge. The Greel line is where you need to seal it up at the rear edge of the fender below the glass.
