I've had my 68 327/350 for about 2 months, it runs ok, but when you hit the loud pedal it stumbles, pops and pisses.
I've read the timing/carb sticky and started to go through the motions, but looking at the engine, I can't find the timing tab! It's been a while since I timed a SBC, I don't remember any tabs being on the bottom? I didn't get a chance to jack it up to look, but as best I as can see there isn't a tab on the engine. Is it missing? If so, what's the cure?
The previous owner said it's not the original engine, code stamped on the deck is F080HC. Can anyone interpret this?

Thanks in advance,

on a 350 if you look at the power steering pump and the harmonic balancer you should be able to see it sometimes the tabs break off....if you got to summit you can get new ones that attach by using the timing chain cover bolts to hold it in place, i'm not sure on a 327 where it is but i would start there
if its like my 78 then its under the water pump. you have to look between the water pump and the timing chain cover to see it and if you have to wrong water pump on it you wont be able to see it at all.
