New to here and have just about every manual but the AIM for my 77 vette. I'm now about to undertake diagnosing the vacuum lines as the brakes are fixed and now the vette will stop which is good. I can't seem to locate anything on how to manual release the headlights to let them go down. By accident I shut one one night with no idea what I released. I then pushed it backup and it stayed. Is there a manual release/catch under there somewhere?
Thanks in advance
There is a way... on my 68 I have to reach in from underneath and it is very much like a leg that is locked at the knee. You have to reach behind the knee and pull forward, causing the knee to bend and the headlight to go down. Maybe somebody else can give you a more technical reply. It's not hard at all, just a pia to get under there and reah up and do it without pinching your hand.
Ahh both you guys are wimps! Whats a little blood.
There was a thread on this a few days ago and it is very simple as stated above. Just get up at the knee action and move the knee and the light will come down pretty easy.
The way my lights are set up is ridiculous...I have to manually unplug the vaccum line to the lights, then walk in front of the car and lift them up manually and leave the line un-plugged. Then to close them i "simply" plug the vaccum line back up. The word "ghetto" is probably coming to your mind now thats how i do it until i get the resources to fix it.
Thanks for all of the help. I did get them down but the passenger side seemed to not close all the way.. flush.. close my not quite. .while driving it a few blocks it popped back up. I consider this and the fact that I get hissing at the light switch good as at least I know there is some vacuum in there.. So for now they are back up. Now it's time to take Dr Rebuild chart and start checking the lines. Thanks again
