What do you mean by "can't get them in?" Did you remove the retainers and remove the old ones? Did you make sure that the new ones match the old ones? Were the old ones missing? trouble getting the retaining clip on?
Just not sure what you mean by "can't get to them."
Now I get it. Kona has a reasonable suggestion. If your hands are like mine, they take up too much space.
As I recall, the clips have a lip that sticks up from the closed end. it was enough so that I could get a pair of needle nosed plyers on them. This worked fine to get them off. On was another matter. As I recall, I removed alot of other stuff to make room to work.
I just got through painting my vette and removed and replaced the locks and door handles. The best way is to get a good pair of LONG needle nose pliers and then you can use the edge of the hole on the back side of the door to leverage the pliers against and push the clips on. I found this to work very well. Hope this helps.
I thought that was a pita i had to take my whole locking mechanisim out and rebuild it... I had to fight for a half hour to get it out of the door. I used long thin neele nose plyers for the clips, and some Yoga like positions with my arms and hands...... Or do what they said pay a 12 year old 5 bux to help you out... But i just used thing long neele nose plyers and some fighting and struggling...
