It will fit......but the 68' is not as wide as a 69'
15x7 vs 15x8
If i recall i tried this once years back & it did fit but going to the inside of the wheel it came up a little short, meaning didn't go in deep enough towards the lugs & there was a space that was noticeable. Trying to remember if the problem was the wheel size, repro beauty rings, or the wrong ones period, either for a camrao or chevelle.......?
I'm going to check my NCRS book & see if it gives different measurements for the 2, i'll get back to you shortly..........
i'm a getting old..........
'68-'81 trim rings are the same, only the '68 wheel is different.
Thanks....sounds like you've been there. If this is true, then apparently the 7 inch wheel for the chev. has a different offset then the 7 inch vette wheel. Do you know if this is true?

Passenger car rally wheels had a different offset and did not use the wide trim ring. Only Corvettes used the wide trim ring in production.
If you look at an 8" wheel there is a gap between the ring and the spoke section. With the '68 7" wheels, the ring sits very close to the spoke section.
I used to use the 7" Vette wheels on old muscle cars back in the day because they had the deep look but they didn't interfere with the body like the 8" wheels. For example, this Camaro has 15X7 Vette wheels in the rear and 15X7 passenger car wheels in front. Notice how close the trim ring is to the spoke section. The passenger wheels on the front have narrow trim rings. No clearance issues with this set up as there would have been with 8" wheels.

Thanks you very much.....You've resolved my situation. I know the numbers and date codes on the 7 inch vette wheels, but wasn't certain about the difference of the vette and chev. wheel.
I understand completely your discription, and appreciate your time...especially the picture.
I spent several years in Traverse City, how close is this to you?
