Default Brake lines coming loose?!

A few months ago I replaced the brake lines on my '69 with all new stainless steel lines.

I installed all the lines, tightened them and then pressure tested the entire system. I retightened any small leaks and then filled the system with brake fluid and bled the system.

I'm now getting ready to get the car on the road this spring and I notice that the rear compartment of the MC is losing fluid. I trace it out and I find that the 2 trailing arm lines are leaking, very slightly, where they connect to the calipers.

I retighten the lines and refill the MC, then a couple of days later the same thing is happening! So I retighten them again and refil, then a few days later, same thing!

Could this be a problem with the new lines or with the calipers? Or is this normal with stainless lines?

Any one have a similar experience?

TIA

Dave

Probably cheap fittings.

Have you tried a form or Locktite?

My question was to determine if a substance other than brake fluid on the threads may have been hindering their hold in the caliper.

I was always told not to use anything one brake lines because the flare fitting is supposed to provide the seal, not the threads.

No?

No?

You were correct.

New fittings, and re-flaring the lines might be a better idea than replacing the calipers.

Thanks, I may have to try that.

The lines and fittings are all new, so I was suspicious of the calipers.

some times you need to reseat the SS fitting several times since they are so hard, i would try this at least. perhaps they are not tightening down all the way and you are getting a false impression that they are seating .....i would alternate between tightening and loosening them and see if they snug up better
