Flywheels for Late model Blocks comment..
Originally I thought any aftermarket Flywheel for a Late model (oem 1 piece seal) Block would all have the Same Bolt pattern as what GMPP sells for their ZZ engines.
So I decide on A Summit advertized "Hays Steel external balanced for GM late Block" and was amazed
when it wouldnt bolt up..the Bolt Pattern was the Same Diameter but the Hole locations were off a hair in Radius. When I looked back on the Summit Website I noticed that out of All the aftermarket Flywheels advertized for My Application, (Besides GMPP)Only Centerforce Noted: "Will fit GMPP ZZ engines". So I exchanged for the Centerforce and sure enough fit perfect, and cost $50 more!
When I sent The Hays Back I commented to Summit the Discrepency and wondered if they could verify with Hays the misfit with same advertized order criteria and get a Note in the discription "doesnt fit GMPP ZZ engines". That would have saved me Two weeks delay in getting my drive train togeather.
Out of all that I think I can Safely state the Fact that The GMPP ZZ Blocks do have "some" Propriatary issues with the Bolt up Components. Im not sure if its for better design Reasons Or is only a way To Force us ZZ engine folks into the GMPP market of component Parts Or any aftermarket company that will tool up and Comply to their different spec's. I suspect the Latter.
Microsoft Wrote the Book On this marketing teqnique. It works Very well for Profit margins But is Pure Pain in The Rearola from the consumer stand point. Starting to rant and rave now sooo....
