Default Fuel filter carnage...pic inside

Self explanatory. My car has new tank and I just replaced the fuel pump to carb line with the OE style metal line along with the two rubber lines hooked to the pump. The lines from the tank to fuel pump are rust free. I'd imagine there's all kinds of crap in the fuel pump.

My plan is to crank over the engine and have the fuel line dump into a container. Well, its off to the parts store for 'a bunch' of filters.

My tank is brand new installed by the previous owner. I have a feeling that junk was in the line from the old tank.

Good idea to do that every time you change filter. Probably saves a filter or two.

I attached a rubber hose to fuel line and ran it into 2 soda bottles. Particles in the first bottle equaled what you see in the pic. The second bottle had much less. Its all back together now. I'll run it then pull the filter to see what it looks like. The parts store only had 2 filters.....they're both mine now!!

I'm curious as to if any particles are in my carb. When filters get clogged they'll push on the spring and get bypassed. Maybe I'll pull the top off while I'm waiting for my 'Lars base gaskets'.

On mine, the strainer "sock" in the fuel tank deteriorated into a black, brittle mess. After I replaced the sender unit and sock, I replaced the fuel filter.....It looked as bad as yours
