Timing question
Pulled the dist to check croos gear on shaft (71 stock with points).Put the dist back in seams to run alittle rough. I did mark where the rotor was and marked the housing to the block. Should I just reset the timing or do I need to check any thing else.

redo your timing.
marking it before you removed the distributor is a big help during re-installation of the distributor in terms of making sure it is oriented correctly and it's in a close range but it won't be exact.
Throw a timing light on it and set it up correctly
