Default 68 BBC intake clerance

I finally found an intake that will work.

The original (I will get at some point) costs 3-600$

The Torker II is single plane and is 2500-5500 RPM's.

This one is the only Aluminum dual plane I could find. That would fit..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...2259319&rd=1,1

Performance products. 120.00
Ive used a PP intake before and worked well..

I have been frustrated with the same thing. This fits under a stock BB hood? I currently have the Torker II with a 1/2" spacer and that leaves 1/4" of clearance. I have never heard or seen this intake before. I would like to go back to a dual plane, but they are all too tall. (also have the original factory dual plane if you are interested 427/390 HP). What do they claim for power improvement/use for this intake.

In looking more closely at this on ebay, I don't think it will fit. Have you actually fit it yet? Rear dimension is 5.5" high and my info suggests the limit is 5.1". Edelbrock performer is 5.4" in the back and says it will not fit under a stock hood. Torker II is 4.6" and I have added 1/2" spacer for 5.1" total.

On the listing it shows 5.5 tall from the bottom of the oil shield under the ports to the very top. I measured the iron one I have that clears and its the same height. I think the measurments your looking at are from the deck to the top of the carb. It really has to fit because its the same overall height as the one I have.. I wold be interested in the stock #

3937793 or 3919849 if you have one. I just dont want to pay 300 right now. I have more critical things to spend on. Later I will get down to that nitty gritty..

What is the vertical measurement from the bottom of the rear edge of the manifold (that would meet the block) to the carb pad. This measurement on my Torker II was 4.6 inches.

Do they have any info on how this performed. Dyno test, etc.

I have the same dilemma with my 74 LS4. I am installing the GMPP aluminum heads and my solution is to use the 1970 factory LS6 manifold. There will be a port mis-match because my manifold is rectangle port and my heads are a square oval shape, but many have run similar combinations with good results. The LS6 manifold is VERY LOW, only 3 7/8" at the rear and 2 3/8" at he front. I will actually be using a 3/8" spacer under the carb for clearance for the linkage. I am also using a 1970-style drop-base air cleaner with a 3" element. Stay tuned for the results soon.

I just checked the Pro Products site and it says it wont fit. I think the guy I bought it from has the measurement diagram drawn wrong. He shows the 5.5 to be from the lowest point to the highest.. Dangit!!.. Sorry,.. Thanks for having me check it..

Default A old Holley Street Dominator single plane will fit

Oval port. It has longer smaller runners than the torker. I put in runner extensions too and run a half inch spacer. Good mid range and more power than the low rise LS6 I was running before.

Pick one up on ebay for $50-$70

What a bummer, man. You had me fired up too with the prospect of it working.

One other option is the tri-power set up. It really does make great power, but it is expensive. I started another thread in the "engine mods" section if you are interested. Corvette enthusiast ran a dyno test on this setup on a stout BB and it made more top end than either a RPM air gap or street dominator. Of course the problem is the cost. A good setup is 3K. I'll give you a good deal on my aluminum 390HP manifold if you want it. I can't see ever using it again on anything I build.

How do you think this compares to the Torker II? Did you weld in the runner extensions? How much better did this outperform the LS6?

I'll bet the Torker could be improved with welded in extensions, the extensions tend to remove some plenum which boost low end, I had 2 torkers but sought out the Street dominator as it had taller runners as it changes direction which is better than square runners when changing direction.

The Street Dominator had more midrange and top end punch than the LS6. No figures just seat of the pants. I needed more accellerator pump shot with the single plane and probably lost a bit around 2000 rpm but as the rpm got up the tyres would start to turn, while the LS6 just went flat at 5000rpm

Ive conceeded to go for the L88 hood now as I am going to a 540 and will use a big C454 dual plane.
