Default 68 casting#

Help-
I've got a 68 vette with a clean pad. casting # 3914660
where the date should be is convt or convi (not sure)
the car is a very early build-10/67. Certain reference books say this is correct for an early 68, others do not mention this #. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks-Tpic

My Corvette by the Numbers book says: 1968 Corvette 327 300 HP. It was used interchangably with the 3914636 block in certain applications. There is some evidence that this block was used prior to a Feb 29 1968 assembly date. Note: all applications are unverified.
Look at the same spot as the casting # on the opposite side. Should be a casting date there.

most 68's I've seen have a 3914678 casting for all 327's.

Look down on the right (passenger) side of the block above the oil pan. If you find the casting date there, this might be a McKinnon Industries block.

Conv 1 means it went down conveyor 1 when it was cast. Took me 25 years to learn that.
