More than half are much easier to do from below. There is one particularly hard one that I've foound my plug socket and 3/4 inch ratcheting wrench accesses very well but was slow to do any other way.
This assumes that you don't have the sheilding in place. You pretty much have to go at them from below if it is as the retainer bolts are below the exhaust manifolds.
It is pretty tight in there yes. if you have access to a lift or the like, I would suggest doing it from underneath...other than that, its pretty basic...oh and do it when the engine is cool to avoid burns
First, there are a couple that are easier to get from the top. You might want to do these first.
Second, DO ONE AT A TIME!!!!! I don't know how many times I've switched the wires on plugs 2 and 4. The car will start and run fine, but will lack power. Save yourself the aggravation.

Yep. I believe I do 1& 3 from the top, the rest from underneath.
step 1: remove heat shields
step 2: take heat shields to nearest river/lake/ocean
step 3: heave shields into body of water
step 4: get either real headers with ceramic coating or heat tape crappy originals
step 5: run wires over top of valve covers like normal hotrodders and be done with it.
