I have the following Q-jet on my 68 327 manual tranny: 7029202 Date code A9.
The fast idle cam that the divorced choke rod hooks into was broken when I bought the car, I can't find anywhere that sells just that part, anyone know where to get one?
Also, from the code the carb is for an automatic, what's the difference between the auto and manual carbs?

Q-Jet parts are not available from any source. You have to buy another used carb and rob the parts. If you post or send me a photo of the part you need I probably have one - I scrounge parts carbs all the time due to the parts shortage problem. BTW - the divorced choke rod does not attach to the fast idle cam - the cam rotates freely on the intermediate shaft, and the intermediate shaft is attached to the rod via a hole in the lever arm.
Difference between AT and MT carbs is in the throttle arm configuration (for kickdown linkage), vacuum port for modulator on AT carbs, and occasionally a slight jetting difference.

Try this link. They are a decent source for parts.
After reading Lar's post about buying old carbs I stopped by the local pull-a-part junkyard. Not many old carbed GMs around anymore, a couple late Q-jets but nothing with a divorced choke.
Walking out I noticed the truck section and decided to check it out. Found a 80's Chevy pu that had a divorced choke on it! No part number tag or stampings, two rebuild tag but it has the linkage I need.
First price was $45, I said it was missing some linkage and the guy said $35, I said OK and went to take it off. When I went to pay the original guy was busy, another guy said the old Q-jets are going for $50, and I told him I the other guy said $30, so that's what I got it for. It also has a good choke pull down diaphram that my carb needed. Hope I can sell the carcase for $30 at a swap meet!

The divorced choke parts and the pulloff on the 80's truck carb will be different than the parts on your early model divorced choke carb, unless that truck had a 1967-1969 carb on it. The 80's truck carbs with divorced chokes are similar to the early 70s passenger car carbs, and these are not the same as the 68 carb.
All pulloffs are available brand new - no need to use used parts for that. But you have to rob fast idle cam and divorced choke parts from a 67-69 Q-Jet for your '68 carb.
Well Lars, I must be living right. I swapped the choke and it's a perfect fit.
Thanks for the tech articles, they were a great help. One thing I did learn, I used a pair of hemostats to hold the intermediate choke lever in place while I slid the assembly into place. It kept me from having to pull the whole carb. I could have used an extra set of hands, had to hold my mini-mag flashlight in my mouth to be able to see and manuver both parts into place but finally got it. It was good to have the spare carb to tryout on.
