so as you might know i have a 74 stingray which i had a 8in tv put were the gauge cluster use to be. I had asked the shop that did the tv to lable and put together all gauge wire so when i had the $$ and time i could install the new set of gauges myself. So now it brings me to the problem i have the money now and the gauges but when i pulled aside my tv all the wires were bunced up and unlabled.......i bought a corvette mauel thinkin it would have the color codes of what wire plug when to what gauge but it doest......so does anyone know? its for my fuel gauge, volt, water, and oil.

Do you have the AIM? The AIM for my 71' shows the colors to all the gages. Don't know if it's the same as 74 but here it is.

If you haven't got this figured out I can help you one gauge at a time with pictures if you need. I just tore my interior out a few days ago and luckly I marked each seperate wire and the plugs for right side up to each gauge. The light bulbs are marked by wire color right where you plug them in. I think there was seven bulbs in there but they all had marks stamped bk wh or blu etc...

Color code is a little tricky, but logical [I guess]. B=black, R=red, T=tan, Y=yellow, PPL=purple, DBL=dark blue, LBL=light blue, etc., etc.
So wires show / / marks; these mean that the insulation is the first color listed, with a stripe of the second color. Hope this helps.

Your new fuel gage should have connections for "ground" (black wire) and "fuel sender output" (tan wire). Your original clock has only one connection....orange wire for 12v. power. Your new clock needs that one and it may need a ground wire; if so, just connect to a black (ground) wire in the pack of wires back there. Your ammeter [or voltmeter] will have to be wired as shown in the information that came with it. IT CANNOT BE WIRED UP THE SAME AS YOUR ORIGINAL unless it is a direct replacement for a '74 Corvette ammeter. Do what the instructions say. If you can't figure it out, put the instructions for it in this thread and we will try to help. Water temp guage has pink wire for 12v., black wire for "ground", and dark green wire for the temp sensor output [at the engine]. See if this will help you get it done. [Note: This data is from my '71 wiring diagram and I am assuming it is the same for your car on these items. If someone knows otherwise, clue us in, please.]

as for the gauge placement, I would run them along the area right before it starts to angle up to the screen....looks like you have enough space there.... then you can buy some of the angle rings from jegs/summit for autometer gauges so the won't be straight up and down, you'd be able to adjust them so they could be angled up towards you.....

depending on hwo many gauges you're wanting to use, you could go with some pillar mounts and mount them there...havn't seen that on a c3 yet....
